Check out this cover art for Red June's latest album, Ancient Dreams. It's a 7' x 7' painting by local artist Nancy Joyce Hilliard and is available for sale at her studio.

The album is to be released on April 15th on Organic Records. Pre-orders are shipped out next week and the CD will be available online and at our live shows beginning on April 15th.

Congrats, Nancy, who was our cover artist for June of 2013!

Tonight at Isis Restaurant and Music Hall is the ArtSpace Annual After Hours Cabaret, a benefit for ArtSpace Charter School. Tickets are available in advance at $20 each or $35 a pair on Artspace's website.

Enjoy food, fun, entertainment, and the exciting Silent Auction! Main stage entertainment will feature performances by NPR Theme Composer BJ Leiderman, Americana singer/songwriter Dave Desmelik, the high energy bluegrass band Buncombe Turnpike, and an ‘experimental electric’ duo, just off their tour in Russia, the Ahleuchatistas, just to name a few! Hosts for this singular event will be Reasonably Priced Babies, a local comedy troupe voted the best in Mountain Xpress’s “Best of 2013”. The Silent Auction will offer goods and services generously donated by local artists and businesses.

Consisting of head-to-head chef battles, the Got To Be NC Competition Dining Series celebrates culinary talent, regional agriculture, and good food. The winning chef team from the opening regional series will battle at “Final Fire” in Raleigh and a state champion will be named.

As a beer drinking gentleman of Irish descent, I must confess that seeing images of green beer flowing into glasses for St. Patrick’s Day bothers me, as it seems to reinforce stereotypes about Irish overconsumption of malted beverages with little respect for tradition.
