What rationale in logistics deemed it appropriate to have one of the street performers stationed exactly in front of a group of evangelists at this years Bele Chere? The Vance Monument is used by many groups to express free speech, and this group certainly has as much right, but this seemed a very ill-conceived line-up. The performer is the well known Silver Drummer Girl who offers a family oriented show. After several hours of tolerating the ever increasing decibels of Leviticus, she leaped onto the religious group’s platform to momentarily over power them with a series of rapid bursts from her snare drum. Always the pro, it was of course delivered in character with a nod to some inspired jocular anarchy. The police escorted her back to her designated spot, but it was quite obvious that her limits were tested.
